REPORT – MARCH


GENERAL

Historic Achievement of Chitrang - Chitrang Murdia of Delhi Public School Udaipur has set a historic record by getting selected for the second round of the four National Olympiads in the session 2013-14. He is the only student to have achieved this.
He remained successful in the second round of the Indian National Physics, Chemistry and Astronomy Olympiad conducted by Homi Bhabha Atomic Centre for Science Education. He has been successful in the second round of Indian National Maths Olympiad conducted by National Board of Higher Mathematics. The achievements of Chitrang have no parallel and he deserves appreciation for these.
The Principal, Ms. Neeru Tandon acclaimed Chitrang and blessed him for his future prospects. 

Annual Exam –Examination is a time to evaluate what has been added to the cognitive abilities of the students. March 1, 2014 was the beginning of such a journey for the Dipsites at Udaipur with commencement of final exams for the session 2013-2014.
It was a time for them to showcase what they had achieved in terms of learning for the rest of their lives. Every Dipsite tried to give the best to prove his/her mettle that one has acquired enough knowledge to serve as a stepping stone to achieve greater goals in life.

Hindi Olympiad – Silver Zone Foundation conducted Akhil Bhartiya Hindi Olympiad (ABHO) 2013 on 24th January 2014. Having a legacy of novel ventures, DPS, Udaipur, encouraged its students to participate in ABHO and 164 students from classes III to class X took part in it. Jheel Jain and Sanvi Dua of class III added one more feather to the achievement ladder of the school by securing II and V position at the National level respectively. Jheel Jain will be awarded with a gold medal and a digital camera and Sanvi Dua will be awarded with a silver medal and an attractive gift. The students who have achieved National ranking will also get appreciation certificate. In addition, the students who have secured I, II and III position at class level will get gold, silver and bronze medals respectively. The school looks forward to motivate all students to participate in such constructive endeavours.

International Mathematics Olympiad – IMO was conducted with full spirit in DPS, Udaipur. 329 students from the school appeared for IMO held in December 2013. 19 students from DPS Udaipur, qualified for the 2nd level of IMO from classes 3 to 12.

DPS, Udaipur proud as Praniti Phulmare of class III has stood second at the State Level in the second round of International Maths Olympiad. She has been felicitated by a Silver Medal and a gift voucher of Rs. 1000/-. In this series, Varun Bapna of class VI got a gift voucher of Rs. 1000/- for scoring sixth position at the State Level. The Principal, Ms. Neeru Tandon blessed these students on their success and wished for their bright future.

International English Olympiad - International English Olympiad was organized by Science Olympiad Foundation in February 2014 and the students of Delhi Public School have performed well in it.

The winners have been felicitated by a Gold Medal and a gift voucher of Rs. 1000. The Principal, Ms. Neeru Tandon congratulated all the toppers and motivated them to work hard to get National and International Rank in the next session.  

Holi Milan of Staff – Holi, the festival of colours and joy, brought all the staff together for celebration on 15th March 2014. Everyone greeted each other and shared happy memories. Refreshments and delicacy served added strength to their merriment. Holi Milan enhanced the bond among the staff that was busy with evaluation.

PTM – The last Parents Teachers Meet of the session 2013-14 of classes Pre-Nursery to class III and classes IV to VIII were held on 15th and 23rd March respectively at Delhi Public School, Udaipur. The PTMs were organized in order to hand over the final result of the children to their parents. Almost all the parents turned up for the meetings. Most of the parents were happy and satisfied with the academic year 2013-14.

Scholarship of Excellence in English – Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) awards Scholarship of Excellence in English (S.E.E.) for outstanding performance in English. DPS Udaipur feels proud that Akshat Mantri of class VIII has been awarded this scholarship for the academic session 2013-14. This scholarship is awarded to 120 students across India based on their performance in English on the recommendations received from school. The S.E.E. is run by SOF in association with the British Council. Akshat has been felicitated by a cheque of Rs. 5000/- by SOF.

Himanshi secured IV position in SMTE - Science Maths Talent Exam was conducted by Delhi Public School Society for the students of class IX studying in Delhi Public Schools of the country for promoting interest and competitive spirit amongst the students. Himanshi Mehta of Delhi Public School Udaipur had participated in this exam and was selected for the second round. In the second round she has come out with flying colours by securing IV position. For this achievement she has been acclaimed with a cheque of Rs. 5000/ and a certificate from the DPS Society. Himanshi will be attending training programme at DPS Dwarka from 05th to 09th May 2014. 

Mumbai Trip – “An opportunity to explore oneself”. Children of class III-V were taken for an adventurous trip to Mumbai. A group of 30 students, 2 teachers and a tour instructor left Udaipur on 19th March 2014 and reached Mumbai the same day. Thrilled and excited children were taken to Essel World on 20th March. It was an experience full of excitement, thrill and fun where children enjoyed on different swings, haunted house, crazy cups, magic show, rainbow, bunjee jumping and the most exciting was aqua ride for all of them. After the visit to Essel World the children were taken to Gateway of India and thereafter to Juhu Beach. On 21st March the children were taken to Empower Camp where they stayed for 2 days. It was yet another adventurous experience for them to do activities like Rock Climbing, Rapelling, Burma bridge, playing team games and so on.
The trip ended on 23rd March and it was not only entertaining but also empowering in the sense of building self help habits and developing team spirit and improving group behaviour among children.

Skating & Football Camp - As soon as holidays approach, the parents are at wit’s end as to how they would be able to gainfully occupy their wards and we at DPS Udaipur have made it easier for them to decide by organizing a Skating and Football Camp in the evenings.   This Camp began from 13th March and lasted till 29th March 2014, which was a short break before the School reopened for the new academic session.  Kids from classes Nursery to II have participated in this camp with great enthusiasm. The coaches for Skating as well as Football tended to the little ones with great care and zeal. The fresh skaters were taught the basics and the ones who knew the basic technique got to polish their skating skills further. All the kids were almost beginners as far as Football training was concerned and the Coaches patiently delivered the basics to them with the help of demonstrations. The youngsters were very enthusiastic to learn about Football. The activities involved in the teaching process were quite interesting for the kids as well as the onlookers. The camp was a huge success and the parents have requested for such camps in future.

Training Session for X Evaluation – A training session was organised for the On Screen Evaluation of answer sheets of class X at St. Gregorious School on 07th March 2014 in which 7 teachers from Delhi Public School, Udaipur participated. The Principal, Ms. Neeru Tandon also joined the programme as Chief Nodal Supervisor of DPS, Udaipur Evaluation Centre. The training imparted thorough knowledge about new Evaluation methodology using computer. The session aroused the curiosity of all the examiners and all could be seen discussing about it. The enthusiasm of the teachers from DPS, Udaipur knew no bound and they showed their keen enthusiasm to evaluate answer sheets on-screen.

Board Evaluation – This year Delhi Public School, Udaipur has been selected as the Nodal centre for evaluation of AISSCE answer scripts. The evaluation of Hindi Course-B started on 26th March 2014 in conventional way whereas evaluation of answer scripts of Mathematics started on 29th March 2014 using On-Screen. 12 & 10 examiners from various schools respectively for Hindi & Maths have reported their presence for smooth and timely completion of the evaluation work.

Commencement of New Session for class XII – New Session for class XII for the year 2014-2015 began on 03rd March. This was a deliberate effort to conclude XI class for the session 2013-2014 in the month of February so that classes for XII standard can begin in March.
With this extra one month in hand, course for XII can be completed well in time. This give students ample time for revision and Pre-Board exams can be conducted at appropriate time.


PRE-PRIMARY
Prize Distribution Ceremony: The Pre Primary Dipsites were awarded certificates for their for bagging positions and participation in the mega event ‘Sports Day at the Zoo’ which was held in the month of February. In addition to this the little ones who had shown commendable performances in the Inter Class Academic Competitions were felicitated with trophies for the respective events. On Thursday, the 6th of March 2014, the Pre Primary Kids were found cheering, hooting and clapping for their fellow mates when they were being felicitated.


Holi Celebration- 12th March was the last working day of the session 2013-14 and the ever energetic kids of Pre Primary celebrated this day by splashing colours on each other as well as their teachers. Holi is one festival which is always celebrated with great enthusiasm by all age groups. The zeal of the Pre Primary Dipsites became a source of inspiration of others who witnessed this Holi Celebration in the lawn area of the school. Colourful smiling faces peeped out of the school buses as well as cars on their way home. The vibrant celebration on the last day of the session was enjoyed by all.

Event Report 2013-14:February

REPORT – FEBRUARY

GENERAL

Wetland Day - On the International Wetland Day, a seminar was organised on 1st February 2014, by the Wildlife Wing, Forest Department, Udaipur, in collaboration with Indian Environment Society Delhi, WWF India and ‘The Talons’. Mahika, Abir, Disha, Sanskar, Tushar and Sumedh of class VIII from Delhi Public School Udaipur participated in the seminar.
The seminar was organised with an aim to spread awareness and to generate sensitivity among the students about Nature and Wetland Conservation, Biodiversity conservation and prevention of all forms of pollution. The students understood that Nature is a powerful teacher and there are many things that one can learn from it.  

Inter Class Extempore Competition - An Inter Class Extempore Competition was organised on 7th February 2014. This activity was organised to develop the skill to speak spontaneously on the given topic. The theme of the competition was ‘How to Beautify Udaipur’. The students of Class VIII enthusiastically participated in the competition. Sanskar Soni of Class VIII B got First Position, Vanshjaa Sengar of the same Class stood Second and Bhavika Khamesra of Class VIII D bagged the Third Position.

Praniti Shines at the International Level - Praniti Fulmare of class III of Delhi Public School, Udaipur has set a new record by scoring the first position at the International Level in the second round of the National Cyber Olympiad organized by Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF). She received a cash prize of Rs. 50,000, a gold medal and gifts worth Rs. 1000 and a merit certificate. In this series, Deepanshu Sharma of class XII succeeded in getting first position at the state level and won Rs. 5000, gold medal, gift of Rs. 1000 and a merit certificate. Ishaan Kavadia of class VI also stood I at the State Level and received a gold medal, gifts of Rs. 1000 and a merit certificate. The Principal congratulated all the winners for their grand success in the second round of NCO and wished them for their bright future.

Final Exams – Class XI Final Exams for class XI were conducted in the month of February 2014 with a view to start the session of class XII in the first week of March 2014. This is done to get one month extra time for preparation of Board Exams. 71 students from Commerce and 55 students from Science Stream appeared for the Annual Exam that started from 5th February 2014. The result was declared on 28th February 2014 for both the streams and the session for class XII commenced from 3rd March 2014.

Prize Distribution Ceremony The Annual Prize distribution Ceremony for Juniors was held on 18.02.2014 and for seniors it was held on 20.02.2014. The prizes were given for the various Inter House activities conducted throughout session viz, Debate, Song, Dance, Sports etc. The students who secured first, second and third positions in these competitions were awarded. Satluj House topped during this session, Ganga House stood second and Ravi stood third. Medals were also given to all the winners of the Olympiads.
Exam Tips for Udaipurites – “Students Get Tips to Score well in Boards
As the board exams for the session 2013-2014 are approaching, the pressure to do well is building up on the students. The faculty members of DPS, Udaipur shared tips on how students can avoid tension & psychological pressure of facing board exam.
(1)       Mr. Girish Nair, PGT Mathematics suggested that time management & question paper reading are important aspects of solving a paper. He stressed to prepare for the mathematics paper according to the question paper pattern & how to avoid pre-exam phobia. His article was published in the Rajasthan Patrika on 13th February, 2014.
(2)       Ms. Payal Pahuja, PGT English gave tips on how to manage time for the English Paper. The presentation of the answers should be neat & tidy. Highlighting the value points & keeping in mind the correct format for the writing skills is essential. Her article was published in the Rajasthan Patrika on 14th February, 2014.
(3)       Ms. Shweta Soni, PGT Chemistry, gave tips for prior preparation and how to proceed during 3 hours in the examination hall. She also mentioned the presentation skills to be followed while answering the questions. Her article on tips was published in the Dainik Baskar on 17th February & in the Rajasthan Patrika on 20th February, 2014.  

Moral Values Workshop – Class IV & V – An interactive counselling session was organised for the students of classes IV & V on 13th February 2014. During the session, the Principal and the Headmistress instructed the students regarding discipline, etiquettes and general life ethics. They told the children to strictly adhere to the instructions given in the session. This effort was highly appreciated by the parents.

Staff Selection Committee – SSC was conducted on 08th February 2014 to complete the recruitment process for the session 2014-15 for various vacant posts in the school. The short listed candidates were interviewed by the panel of subject experts.
After the first round of the interview and class demo the candidates were introduced to the Board chaired by DPS Society Chairman’s nominee, Mr. B.S. Yadav, Principal DPS Jodhpur who assessed them on the basis of their response to the questions put by the board.

Boarding House farewell Party – Farewell for the inmates of the Boarding House was organised on 18th February 2014 at DPS Udaipur. The programme started with lighting of the lamp by the Principal, Ms. Neeru Tandon, Rectors; Mr. Rathore and Mr. A. Dandotiya, Hostel President Luv Agarawal, Hostel Head Boy Devwrath and Hostel Head Girl Rakhi Kumawat. The programme proceeded with dance numbers by junior boys and senior boys. All presented a few games for the faculty members and the students of class XII. A token of remembrance was given to the students by the Principal, Rectors and the faculty members present there.

Counselling Session for Class IX – To acquaint the children of class IX regarding the change in the blue print of Question paper, marking scheme & the method of awarding marks, a counselling session was conducted in the school premises of DPS Udaipur. The children were made aware of the grading patterns in co-scholastic areas and the minimum scores to be attained in the Summative exams to get through the examination. The counselling was headed by the Principal, Ms. Neeru Tandon in assistance with all teachers teaching various subjects in class 9. Various queries of the children were answered & they were guided regarding the proper format of the examination pattern with the inclusion of PSA & OTBA (Open Text Book Assessment). The session was informative & proved to be fruitful for children as all their doubts were cleared & they got a clear picture of the forthcoming examination.

Counselling Session – In the hustle and bustle of life most of the parents are not able to groom their children properly due to unavailability of time. Moral values take a back seat in the lives of children. They are unable to learn life management and hence undergo depression. Children are also so busy with their daily schedules that they don’t have enough time to interact with their parents.
A counselling session was conducted by Ms. Kusum Arora and Ms. Poonam Arora on 28th January 2014 for the students of IX and X on the topic ‘Moral Values’. Children were inspired to cultivate some common values in their lives which can make their lives beautiful and the world a better place to live in. They narrated some stories related to real life instances and told how team spirit, stress management, anger control, self reliance and time management play a key role to be successful and happy in life.
The session aimed at combining academics with discipline and social and moral training. It also aimed at inculcating moral values into the youth since it is an important prerogative if the children are to grow into responsible adults.

Remedial Classes – ‘Success doesn’t come to you unless you strive for it’. Keeping in mind that each pupil is different in terms of learning ability especially designed diversified teaching method was adopted in remedial classes that continued for a month before exams.
Simple relevant teaching methods were adopted to help students to develop their potential & remove the obstacles in learning so that they may come up with flying colours in SA-II.

PTM – DPS, Udaipur conducted Parent’s Teacher’s Meeting on 15th February 2014. The aim was to communicate with the parents about their child’s performance and fine graining his/her academics whereby children can strengthen their skills and come up with flying colours in SA-II. Parents actively cooperated and discussed freely with the teachers about their child’s efforts and academic status. The exhibits of Canvas paintings made by the students were highly appreciated by all parents.

Basant Panchami – On the occasion of Basant Panchami, a special assembly was organised by class VIII on 4th February 2014. As per the significance of the day, the children dressed in yellow coloured attire. Through a speech, students came to know how people of different states celebrate Basant Panchami. They also depicted Saraswati Pooja of Bengal through a skit. The choir sang ‘Uddi Uddi Re Patang’ with kites in their hands. The students were overwhelmed by the song and the skit.

Cancer Day – On the ‘Cancer Day’ a special talk was given by Dr. Gurmeet Singh, Assistant Director of Cancer Aid Society at DPS, Udaipur on 4th February 2014. He said that Cancer is curable if detected on time but prevention is  better than cure so he advised students to have breakfast regularly and one should have balanced diet. The regular diet should contain green vegetables, tomatoes, fruits, carrots, grains, beans, etc. He guided students that smoking, chewing, tobacco pan masala are very injurious to health and one should not indulge in taking them at all. He also talked about the symptoms of cancer. The students were benefited by his talk. A fund of Rs. 1,37,000 was raised for the noble cause and donated to the Cancer Aid Society.     

AISSCE Practical Examination – AISSCE Practical Examinations 2013-14 in the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Physical Education, Business Studies, Accountancy, Information Practices were conducted from 1st February 2014 to 15th February 2014. The students were guided by the respective subject teachers to give their best in the AISSCE Practical Examination. External examiners were appointed by the CBSE to conduct these practicals. The students performed well and were appreciated by the external examiners.


Inter House Solo and Group Song Competition:  ‘Music is not which attracts the mind it is something which connects the soul’
The Inter House Solo and Group Song Competition for the junior and the senior groups were organized on 10th and 17th of February, 2014 respectively. The themes given for junior and senior solo song category were ‘semi- classical’ and Sufi Song’ respectively. The solo song presented by Shreya Nandi of class VA was a melodious creation ‘Basant Bahar Aai’based on raag Kalawati’. The sufi song ‘Maula Mere lele meri jaan’ presented by Gautam Bedi of class XA mesmerized the enthusiastic gathering . Both these presentation bagged the first position in their respective categories.
In group song category, Ravi House and Satluj House have bagged the first position in junior & senior group respectively. The themes for the group songs were – Patriotism & Quawwali. Overall winner of this event was Satluj house. The Principal Ms. Neeru Tandon displayed her warm appreciation & congratulated the winners and motivated all other students to perform well in the upcoming events in the next session

REPORT – JANUARY

GENERAL
Lohri Celebration amid beats of drum and bonfires - Lohri was celebrated with resonating beats of Dhol, DJ tunes with revelry around bonfires  on 13th January 2014 at Delhi Public School, Udaipur by the Boarders followed by a special dinner. Boarders, teachers and the other members threw ground nuts, popcorn and other munchies into the fire, wishing that God always guide them to the right path & keep everyone prosper. Celebration was on the peek when the boarders took Principal Ma’am and teachers to the dance floor. This palpable celebration has the message of brotherhood and thanking the Almighty for a bountiful life on earth.
Dipsites Cracked IMO - 20 students from Delhi Public School entered the second round of International Maths Olympiad (IMO) organized by Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF). The selected students are: Mahiraj Singh Hada, Tanay Agrawal, Praneeti Phulmare and Aryan Maheswari of class III, Savya Sanchi Dewal and Parth Pratim Das of class IV, Ruchika of class V, Varun Bapna and Raghav Modi of class VI, Rudraksh Jain and Abhinav Talesara of class VII, Akshat Mantri and Sumedh Supe of class VIII, Ritvik Ajaria and Shaswat Ghosh of class IX, Yugvir Parhar of X, Diggaj Bhandari of class XI and Gaurav Pareek of class XII.
Savya Sanchi Dewal of class IV stood at the first position in the city and fifth in the state.

Shloka gathered international applause in Kathak - Shloka Agrawal studying in class III of Delhi Public School has brought honour to the school and the nation by gathering applause for her Kathak performance at the International level. She bagged third position in the international event and received a medal and a certificate for it.

Pinaki Selected for National Athletic Meet - Pinaki Agrawal of Delhi Public School has brought laurels to the state and to the school by setting new records in racing. In 56th National Sports Event selection held at Jodhpur, she took a lead by 10 mts. in 100 and 200 mts race. School Games Federation of India selected Pinaki for the Nationals. This National Meet was organized at Ranchi, Jharkhand from 8th to 12th January 2014.

Pinaki Agrawal of class VIII has made the family and school proud by winning medal in 59th National Level Tournament organized by School Games Federation of India. Representing Rajasthan, Pinaki won silver medal in 200 mts. and bronze in 100 mts. race.

PSA (Problem Solving Assessment) – The CBSE has initiated a Problem Solving Assessment for students of class IX and XI since the session 2012-2013. This session too (during the 2nd term) the said examination was conducted on 18th January 2014. A total of 336 students appeared for the examination from the school. It was mandatory for all students of class IX and XI.
The students of class X and Class XII who wished to improve their score were also allowed to take this examination. The PSA mainly assessed the students in the areas viz. Qualitative Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning and Language Conventions.

NSO – The 16th National Science Olympiad conducted by SOF was organized on 16th November 2013. A total of 289 students from classes III to XII appeared for the 1st Level of NSO. A total of 22 students have qualified the 1st level and will be appearing for the 2nd level exam to be held on Sunday, 16th of February 2014.

National Roller Skating – School Games Federation of India (SGFI) organizes Skating Competition at the National level every year. In this category Arnav Agrawal of Class IV C and Avya Agrawal of class II A were selected for the competition from Delhi Public School, Udaipur. The competition was in Mumbai Vihar from 7th January to 19th January 2014. Students of various schools from all over India participated in the competition with great zeal.

Special Assembly Swami Vivekanand – Swami Vivekanand Jayanti was celebrated at Delhi Public School, Udaipur in the form of a special assembly conducted by the students of class IV B. The assembly started with a prayer followed by an inspiring thought and current updates around the world. The speech by Sahil Pahuja informed the gathering about the contribution of Swami Vivekanand in the field of spreading harmony and peace in the world. Abiya Sayeed recited a very beautiful poem depicting peace. A few students recited inspiring teachings of Swami Vivekanand.

Martial Art – Keshav Lodha (VII A) brought laurels to DPS, Udaipur, in the Inter School Martial Arts Competition held at Doodhtalai from 23rd December 2013 to 25th December 2013.
He won gold medal in Taekwondo, 40 Kg category and silver medal in Karate, 45 Kg category.

Republic Day & Annual Athletic Meet – The 65th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Delhi Public School, Udaipur. The Annual Athletic Meet for the session 2013-14 was also organized on this day after the March Past.
The Chief Guest for the day was Pro-Vice Chairman Sir, Govind Agrawal who hoisted the National Flag and inspected the parade. The spectacular parade by the Dipsites presented a panoramic view and their foot fall echoed their dedication to the nation. After paying tribute to the motherland, the house captains took an oath for the Athletic Meet. Various track events like Hurdle Race, 100 mts, 200 mts Race, Relay Race, etc. were orgnaised for the students from classes II to X in different categories.
The day also witnessed scintillating dance performances by the Dipsites which made the day memorable for all present. Prizes were given to all the winners. On this day the parents were invited to be a part of the celebration and their presence motivated the participants.
The Principal, Ms. Neeru Tandon wished all a Happy Republic Day, and thanked all for their cooperation and support.

Himanshi Mehta – IJSO – The International Junior Science Olympiad is a major international academic competition held annually & the only competition that covers physics, chemistry & biology at the same time.       
The competition is known for its intricacy as it requires wide knowledge in all the three sciences. Top students from each country are selected to compete with their counterparts across the globe. DPS Udaipur proudly announces the name of Himanshi Mehta of class IX B to have cleared the first level of this exam which was conducted on 24th November’2013 & is now appearing for the level II of this exam on 1st February 2014 which is conducted by the ‘Homi Bhabha Science Foundation’. We congratulate her & wish her success in her future endeavours.

CRY – IX (CSR Activity) – Child Right & You, an acronym for CRY is a nonprofit organization in India that aims to restore children’s rights in India. It was established in 1979 to uplift thousand of Indian children who are deprived of basic rights.
Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), is an international human rights treaty which has been ratified by 192 countries. DPS Udaipur has set its benchmark by working for a social cause for such children. Children of class IX took this initiative & collected a fund of           Rs. 11,000 for this organization by putting up a stall at the Christmas Carnival.
We appreciate the students Aditya Singh, Siddharth Bhandari, Kshitij Nair, Viren Tak, Pradeep Kriplani and Mukul Mathur for this praiseworthy initiative taken.

Makar Sankranti (Boarders) - Makar Sankranti was celebrated on 14th January 2014, with special zeal and fervour by the Boarders of Delhi Public School, Udaipur. They had a great fun on this auspicious day. In the morning a cricket match between Staff and boarders was organised in which Staff came up with the flying colours. After a small break they had their Athlete Meet in which each & every Boarder participated and showed their talent. The Kite Flying Activity was the main attraction of the day which Boarders enjoyed a lot. The colourful kites in sky made the children and the staff jubilant.  

Art Competition – R.K. Mall – ‘The India of My Dreams’ and ‘Progressive India’ were the themes for the painting competition for classes III to VIII held on 25th January 2014 at R.K. Mall, Udaipur to mark the glory of The Republic Day.
The purpose of conducting the competition was not only to blend the learning with fun but also have the wider imagination of progressive India.
90 students from DPS, Udaipur participated and showed their patriotism through their paintings.   

International English Olympiad – It’s our constant endeavor to inculcate the sense of competition and recognition. DPS, Udaipur organized classes for the preparation of IEO.
The emphasis was laid on the word & structure knowledge to strengthen the weaknesses, to develop critical thinking and reading, spoken and written expression by effective teaching learning process.
246 students from classes III to XI appeared for the IEO enthusiastically.   

Seminar on Moral Values A Seminar was organized for the students of classes IX and X on 28th January 2014 on ‘Personality Development and importance of moral values in life’. The key speaker was Kusum Arora. She addressed the students about how to groom personality with the help of a power point presentation. The session started with the explanation of ‘What makes a good personality?’ and then through various stories, narratives and sayings various attributes of a good personality were explained to the students. During the session, a few activities were also conducted. The students were asked to share their strengths and weaknesses. The presentation ended with an urge that it is important to be a good human being.
The Principal, Ms. Neeru Tandon appreciated the efforts of the teachers for putting up such a wonderful session. She suggested students not to compare themselves with others in terms of possessing materialistic things but it is time for them to focus on academics.

Maa Muje Tagore Bana De – A theatre act ‘Maa Muje tagore Bana De’ by Lucky Gupta made everyone present speechless on January 11, 2014. The act aimed at arousing the emotions of the spectators towards the reality. In this materialistic world, people are least concerned about those deprived of even the basic necessities of life. The mono act presented life of a boy who wanted to be ‘Tagore’ but certain unavoidable circumstances ended up his life as a labourer. The emotions portrayed by the artist brought tears in the  eyes of all and many decided to extend a helping hand to such people who really are in need. The Principal, Ms. Neeru Tandon thanked the artist and his associates for their endeavours in bringing forth this reality to the students. She hoped that this would definitely have an everlasting impact on all.


Advances in Biology and Bio technology (Workshop) – An enrichment programme in Biology for Senior Secondary teachers was conducted at HRD centre Dwarka Campus, New Delhi from January 9 – January 11, 2014 Ms. Seema Ahad and Ms. Shweta Soni for DPS Udaipur attended the workshop.
The objective of this workshop was to discuss the latest developments in Biology & Biotechnology and their impact on the society. A talk show on ‘Reproductive health’ and the tips to combat stress was highly enriching. The resource faculty also gave an insight into the course for Medical entrance and various career prospects in the field of Biotechnology. The teachers also got an opportunity to visit Biotech lab where they learnt about Eco genomics, Decoding genetics, etc. it was quite informational and an enriching experience for the Science Faculty.   

Farewell to Class XII – Delhi Public School, Udaipur extended a Farewell to the students of class XII on 27th of January, 2014.The party was organized by the students of class XI. The programme commenced by seeking the blessings of the Almighty and lighting of the auspicious lamp by the head girl and the head boy. The first presentation was a self composed song by Kuber Singh of class XI which made the atmosphere gross as it reminded the students of the beautiful moments spent together in school.
Each and every performance be it the skit or the dance number was mesmerizing. Titles in the form of latest songs were awarded to the students along with a memento to each student. Besides these, a few special titles received by the students by winning over the nominations were as mentioned.

The Principal through her very emotional words blessed the students and wished a bright future ahead. At the end, the students relished a delicious meal. They departed with a heavy heart as they felt they would really miss the school and all friends very much.

Hindi Olympiad – Akhila Bharatiya Hindi Olympiad was conducted on 24th January 2014. 170 students of DPS, Udaipur from class III to class X participated in this Olympiad. The Olympiad consisted of forty multiple choice questions to be answered in an hour. Our Hindi teachers gave practice on various aspects of grammar, writing, expressions in language and helped the students to improve their language proficiency to face the Olympiad
