Beginning of Academic Session 2013-14
The morning of 1st April 2013
marked the beginning of the new session of Delhi Public School, Udaipur. A
special assembly was organized to welcome the new faculty and also the
students. A special welcome was extended to the new Vice-Principal Sir, Mr.
Yogesh Jain and the Headmistress, Mrs. Animika Roy for becoming the part of the
DPS, Udaipur family.
The assembly commenced with the invocation to
Goddess Saraswati followed by inspirational thought reading & news update.
The highlight of the assembly was ‘The Art of Living’ inculcated in the
students through five points viz. Positive
Thinking, Hard Work, Finding Happiness in everything, Being hopeful and focused.
A sense of pride and belongingness was infused
in the students by the DPS song sung by the staff members. A special welcome
was addressed by the Principal, Ms. Neeru Tandon to the new staff for joining
the school in the new academic session 2013-14.
The assembly concluded with the message given
to the students to compete with their own self and grow in a beautiful &
healthy manner.
Special Assembly – Ambedkar Jayanti & Gangaur
Ambedkar Jayanti and Gangaur were celebrated
at DPS, Udaipur premises on 12th April 2013 in the form of a special
assembly conducted by the students of class X A.
The assembly started with a prayer followed by
an inspirational thought and current updates around the world.
The speech by Yashna and Anshul informed the
gathering about the contribution of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in forming the
constitution of our country. A small skit beautifully brought forth the
humiliation faced by Dr. Ambedkar in his childhood days as an untouchable, but
how he made this a weapon and devoted himself to studies to fight the
injustice.
The patriotic song ‘Vande Mataram………..’
instill in all a feeling of nationalism and patriotism. The class teacher, Ms.
Ruchi Kothari also participated in the assembly and she informed all about the
importance of Gangaur.
A mesmerizing dance performance by the girls
highlighted the significance of the festival as it is one of the major
festivals of Mewar region. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem.
Ram Navmi – ‘Ram Navami’ was celebrated with great pomp
and show in the Pre- Primary section of Delhi Public School, Udaipur.
A short significance of the day was explained to
the children and they were told that this day is the birthday of Lord Ram. They
were also informed that this day is considered as auspicious.
The little students came dressed as ‘Ram,
Laxman, Sita and Hanuman. Chanting of Mantras filled the environment with scent
of religious feeling amongst everyone. The programme was followed by Aarti
Dance on ‘Ramji ki nikli sawari….’ and concluded with distribution of Prasad.
Students were told about the significance of
the day, that we celebrate it because it is birthday of our beloved lord Rama.
This day is also the ninth day of Navratri (a nine day celebration of Goddes
Durga) and onset of New Year according to the Hindu calendar. Students were
told that we must follow the principles and values of Lord Rama from his life
history and implement it in our day to day life.
World Heritage Day: Visit to the City Palace
On the occasion of World Heritage Day, Delhi Public School took
an opportunity to develop awareness about the assortment of cultural
legacy among the students. So class VIII was taken to the City Palace Udaipur.
Through the information given by the guide they came to know that it was built
by Maharana Udai Singh as the capital of the Sisodia Rajput clan in 1559. They witnessed a fusion of the
Rajasthani and Mughal architectural styles and enjoyed the panoramic view of
the city from the top of the palace.
The students relaxed in the Garden Palace that is situated on a 27
metres high natural rock. The rooms on this ground floor appear to be at the
level of the fourth floor owing to the height difference to its surrounding
buildings.
The guide showed them Mor Chowk which is integral to the inner
courts of the palace. They liked the concept of three peacocks representing the
three seasons; summer, winter and monsoon. From one of the windows they saw the
Lake Palace, the Jag Mandir & the Sajjan Garh and understood that these are
the assets which should be valued. In an interactive session they said that it
is our moral duty to protect such monuments and also discussed the different
ways to conserve them.
It is that ‘Knowing is half winning’. The more
we know about our past, the more efficiently they manage our future.’ On the
occasion of World Heritage Day the students of Class I were taken on an
education trip to Ahad Museum, where they saw the precious and priceless
remains of our glorious Ahad civilization.
They were taught to conserve the heritage
sites and monuments, which is a gift to us from our ancestors that our future
generation can also see them and feel proud of their glorious past and culture.
On that day they took an oath to conserve Heritage.
Orientation Programme
The persistent guidance to the students of class XII and time
& again intimation to the parents regarding all our rigorous efforts have
been our supporting strength in our endeavor to make students perform
exceptionally well in the Boards. Keeping this in mind, ‘An Orientation Programme’
was organized for the parents of class XII students on 20th April,
2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The PGT faculty of Science and Commerce stream was introduced and
each and every teacher gave an insight into its subject content, the teaching
methodology, the marks distribution of Theory and Practical’s and all the
planned efforts that are put in for timely and judicious completion of the
syllabus.
The support of the parents was solicited in sending their children
for extra classes and remedial. Besides the scheduled weekly tests, another
strategy was also applied to teach and test in each subject. A time table of
these tests along with the syllabus was distributed so that the parents also become
aware of all our educational endeavors.
At the end, the feedback of the parents was asked and satisfactory
responses were given to the queries raised by them.
Special Assembly – Earth Day
A Special Assembly on Earth Day was conducted
on 22nd April for primary classes. Class V-D led the assembly with
various presentations like the recitation of poem signifying the importance of
Earth Day with a speech and a wonderful dance performance to create awareness
about “Saving Earth”. The Quiz time was also brainstorming for the little
students and created anxiety among them to know more.
Another distinguished feature of the assembly
was that three students portrayed themselves as earth giving a message to save
the Earth from environmental challenges like UV rays, pollution, deforestation
etc.
Over all it was a little and conscious effort
by the students of class V-D to create awareness among the students to ‘Save
our Planet”.
Earth Day was a great time to plan for
educational and action oriented activities at Delhi Public School, Udaipur. A
talk show was arranged for class VI in which Prof. P.C. Jain highlighted the
need of conservation of water and showcased various ways to achieve it. He
taught the students the importance of water by audio visual clips and covered
many important topics such as:

to calculate our water use.

What can
we do to conserve water at home?
·
What one
can do to conserve water outdoors?
He also asked various questions to the
students to make the session interactive. He threw light on ‘Rain Water
Harvesting’. He at last conveyed a message through his talk show,
“Be a part of the water saving culture as it
will help to preserve the environment.”
7th Foundation Day
7th Foundation Day of Delhi Public
school, Udaipur was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm at the premises on
the morning of 25th April, 2013. The programme was based on theme
‘Seven’ as it was the 7th Foundation Day of the school. The Chief
Guest of the event was Mrs. Mani Agarwal, Member Management.
The programme started with the lighting of the
lamp followed by a welcome speech by the Principal, Neeru Tandon.
The vibrant steps of the Oddissi dance to please
Lord Shiva attracted a big round of applause from the spectators. The next to
come on stage was an act to give a message that fun blended with values and
hard work is real fun, so one should not waste time in school life and must
learn to respect the teachers and the elders.
On this occasion Toppers from classes IV to
XII were honoured with a trophy and a certificate. In addition to this, Dipsites
who remained present on all working days were also felicitated for full attendance.
In this series two teachers, a member from admin staff and four members from
the supporting staff (a driver, a helper, an aaya and a sweeper) were also
honoured for 100% attendance.
After this the students of class VII came with
a song that presented the seven chords of music and towards the end Rainbow
Dance perfectly put forth the theme ‘7’. The magical number denotes the
totality of the creation and so stepping into the 7th year, DPS
Udaipur promised to achieve great heights in the field of imparting education.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Vice Principal, Yogesh Jain and compering was
done by Aneesh & Kanishka of class VII.
Mahaveer Jayanti
To inculcate the importance of our rich
culture and tradition in young children, a visit to Jain Temple was organized
on 22nd April, 2013 for class III students. The children were
explained the importance of Mahaveer Jayanti. They were given the message of
salvation as preached by Lord Mahaveer. The teachers and the students recited
the mantras in the temple. This made the ambience very religious. It was the
time to make the children aware of the importance of different religions in
Indian Culture. Thus, it was an entertaining as well as educational trip for
the students.
INTER CLASS COMPETITIONS
27th April 2013 witnessed a number
of Inter Class activities for the students of Delhi Public School, Udaipur.
Drawing Competition (Theme Sunny Day)
Summers is the most awaited season of all. It
occupies a special place in hearts of all kids, who eagerly wait for their
break.
A drawing competition was organized for the
children of class I on 27.04.2013. Children traced their priceless feelings on
paper. Some of them have drawn ice creams, beach scene, swimming pools and few
of them have traced their plans for summer holidays on paper.
Although the effort of each students was
appreciable but some of them were just outstanding and proved to be the best.

Ramp Walk Retro
“We are birds of different feather
Yet we like to flock together.”
The young Dipsites dressed up in ‘Retro’ style
clothes, the fashion and trend in 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Retro fashion of wearing
is actually dresses with polka, stripes, bright fuchsia shades, big collars.
Students were asked to watch ‘Om Shanti Om’ and ‘Action Replay’ Bollywood
movies for the idea of dressing. On 27th April, during the activity
hour the students walked on the ramp with lot of attitude on the Song ‘Mona’
which was chart buster in 90’s. The parameters of judgement were:

Performance
The first position was grabbed by Tikshan
Verma and Kaireen Rajpurohit of II B while Adwaya Sharma of II B stood II. Anya
Agrawal of II A and Kashish Motwani of II C got III position
Fancy Dress Competition
“Think globally act locally” is what we at DPS
work for. In order to create awareness amongst the students about ‘Save Earth’,
an Inter Class Fancy Dress Competition was held on 27th April 2013
for the students of class III. The participants dressed up as Mother Earth,
Tree, Tiger, Water, Jute Bag, Peacock and so on to spread the message that Our
Earth is Green, keep it as it is or else it will never be seen. The children
displayed tremendous talent and showed that they belong to the generation that
is absolutely aware that less pollution is the best solution.
Pranitee Fulmare of III A and Priyanshee
Gehlot of III C shared the prize while the second prize is shared by Rohan
Sarda and Shloka Agarwal of III B. The Third Prize is bagged by Yug Nagda III
B.
Show and Tell Competition
An Inter Class ‘Show and Tell’ competition was
conducted in class IV on April 27, 2013 in which children were shown different
objects and they were asked to speak a few sentences about those objects. The
objective was to develop their speaking skills and boost up their confidence.
Children enjoyed this activity very much and spoke very well. The results of

Face Painting Competition
A face painting competition was held on 27th
April, 2013 for the students of class V. In all the sections the students were
divided in groups of three. The topic of the competition was “Our Earth”. All
the students participated in the competition with great enthusiasm. They
depicted their ideas on the face of their group members. They drew globe with
trees and conveyed inspiring messages such as ‘Plant trees’, ‘Save Earth’ etc.
Children used poster colours and face deco for painting.
Ad Mad Show
On 27th April 2013, an Ad Mad Show
was organised for class VI student. There were at least 13 groups from all the
four sections of class VI. The teams were given a theme ‘School’ on which they
were supposed to create T.V. / Radio Adv. The students showed their talent, creativity,
innovation and business plan for school by creating an advertisement.
The concept of the show was unique in the
sense that it gave platform to the students to showcase their abilities to
perform creatively.
The 1st, 2nd, 3rd
position were bagged respectively by Charities group of VI C, the Best School
Group of VI A and Royal Languages Group of VI B.
Gift Wrapping Competition
A gift wrapping competition was held on 27th
April 2013 for the students of class VII.
All the students participated with a lot of
enthusiasm and showcased their talent in bringing out the best in them.
The students made use of common place things
like rakhi, wooden sticks, dried flowers etc and thus conveyed the message
‘Best out of Waste’.

Rangoli Making
DPS Udaipur believes in bringing out the
hidden artist in students so a Rangoli Competition was conducted on 27th April
2013 in which Class VIII enthusiastically participated in Teams from A to T.
Every Team had made a beautiful piece of art with perfect colour
combinations. Students made Rangoli
using pulses, flowers, colours etc. Some preferred the thematic Rangoli in
which they gave a message To Save Environment, Unity in Diversity etc. The
members Harshita Sharma, Diya Garg, Bhargavi Babel, Katyani Singh, Advit
Agarwal, Tushar Kothari of the Team M from section C stood First. Their theme ‘Save
Girl Child’ was very much appreciated by the Jury.
Salad Decoration
An Inter- class Salad Decoration Competition
was scheduled on 27.04.2013 for the students of class IX. Two groups were
formed from each class for the same. The children came well equipped with the
required salad items and the necessary articles. It was a good opportunity for
the young dipsites to exhibit their creativity. The children were judged on the
basis of nutritive value, originality, teamwork, innovation and overall
presentation.
Class IX B stood I followed by IX A at the II
position
Class IX C got the best Salad for nutritive
value. The activity was a complete amalgamation of creativity, teamwork &
enthusiasm.
Cooking Without Fire
Cooking without Fire was organized for the
students of class X. All the students participated in groups. Three groups with
a group leader were formed from each section and five students from the group
were allowed to prepare and serve the dish. A list of ingredients that could be
used for making a recipe was also provided to the students. All of them
participated enthusiastically and various mouth watering dishes were served in
stylish manner that even the judges were dazed and confused. Each group also had
an attractive name. The winner of the competition was Tasty Traps from X A
while Master Chef of X D and Green Choppers of X C remained the first and
second runners up respectively.
Dignity of Labour
A special assembly on ‘Dignity of Labour’ was
conducted on 30th April 2013 by the students of XII Commerce. The
theme of the day marked the importance of ‘Labour Day’ also known as ‘May Day’ which
falls on 1st May.
The assembly was compered by Luv Agarwal &
Pranjal Kaushik. The day started with the lighting of the lamp by the
representatives of the ‘gentle workforce’ [IV Grade Staff]. It was then
followed by a prayer song ‘Itni Shakti hume dena data’ by a group of students
from class XII.
A group of 8 students lead by Shaantanu Sharma
put up a skit showcasing three different scenes from our day to day life. They depicted
how the domestic helpers, ward boys or peons are ill treated & also how
they should be treated.
The labour day is celebrated in order to honor
the contribution of working men & women. The workforce of DPS including
peons, bus drivers, helpers, sweepers, gardeners & mess staff were
felicitated by the DPS students & staff. Principal Ma’am Ms. Neeru Tandon
bestowed them with a souvenir to acknowledge our gratitude towards them &
their work. The class teacher XII B, Dr. Jasleen Sethi proposed the vote of
thanks.
JEE Mains
JEE Mains (Joint Entrance Examination) for the
entrance to the various engineering colleges of the country was nationwide conducted
on 7th April, 2013. Our school was the centre and about 480 students
gave this exam from our centre. The timing of the examination was 9:00 a.m. to 12:00
noon. The exam was conducted smoothly in 20 rooms with 2 invigilators in each
room
A REPORT ON OUR BUSY BEES
With the advent of summer; this April, DPS
Udaipur plunged headstrong into yet another year of its dedicated service to
the Lake City and the new generation of our Country!
The very first stage of schooling begins at
the Pre primary level and the little ones take their own sweet time to adjust
into the setup of the school. Lot of cajoling and playful activities helped the
tiny tots of Pre Nursery to settle quite comfortably into the class. The
Nursery, LKG and Prep bees enthusiastically set out to study and participate in
various co curricular activities and competitions.
BUZZ BUZZ ACTIVITIES
World Health Day
In the first week of the new session; the Pre primary
bees celebrated the World Health Day on 7th April 2013 by bringing only healthy
food and fruit slices in their tiffin boxes. Prior to this, they were explained
about the need of ‘Healthy Eating Habits’ and the ill effects of consuming junk
food to stay healthy and happy!
Celebrating Lord Ram’s Birthday!
The Nursery A bees presented a live ‘Aarti’
ritual wherein some were dressed up as Ram, Laxman, Sita and Hanuman along with
others dressed up as their devotees. The whole ‘Aarti’ followed by a devotional
dance number rendered a very pious feel to the Pre primary area. Chants of ‘Jai Shree Ram’ filled the assembly
area when this special assembly got over on 18th April 2013.
World Heritage Day
On the same day; that is, the 18th of April,
Nursery, LKG and Prep bees coloured a worksheet each, of some of the important
monuments of India. They were asked to colour the Taj Mahal, the Lotus Temple
and the India Gate in colours of their choice. This was done to bring out, the
way they would like to see these monuments. They were even shown visuals of
World Famous Monuments to update their knowledge on this World Heritage Day.
Kindergarten Day
Making merry and playing, doing interesting
things and enjoying their time with their teachers in school was what the Pre primary
Bees did on 20th April, to celebrate Kindergarten Day. This special day
comprised making of clay models & utility boxes out of used ones, playing
games, dancing and singing.
All the children had come dressed in their
Party attire and for the whole day were involved in various group activities
like:-
Pre-Nursery – Stamp dabbing,
Nursery – A - Straw painting
Nursery – B – Spray Painting
Nursery – C- Making of an owl face with paper
plates.
Various games were played like Chugh Ball,
free play with the ball and passing the ball.
Care for Mother Earth!
Our tiny but vigilant Dipsites of Pre-primary
celebrated the ‘Earth Day’ on 22nd April 2013.
The concept of day and night was introduced
through an enactment by the Pre-Primary Teachers. The Prep B students also came
up with a skit ‘Save Trees’ depicting the sad plight of the earth when trees
are cut down. They gave a message to plant a sapling each and keep the Earth
Green and Healthy!
Nursery B Kids took forward the day with their
ramp walk of slogans to preserve our Mother Earth.
All the little kids watched attentively and
took a pledge to save Earth. They looked very cute, with cheeks painted with
themes related to physical properties of Earth.
It was a dual celebration that day as the
young Dipsites were given badges of ‘Boy & Girl Class Monitors’ as well as
Language Coordinators by our most loving Principal Ma’am. This initiative will
motivate the little ones to actively shoulder responsibilities at this tender
age and that too with marked enthusiasm. They looked happy and on top of the
World. The badge wearers walked away with proud smiles and a feeling of
determination in their hearts to do things worthy of their badges. The day
concluded with a photo shoot of these little
office bearers.
Pool Party
–The little ones of Pre-Nursery,
Nursery and LKG had come with their mothers to school one by one on different
days as Pool Parties had been arranged for them in turns at the school swimming
pool.
Each time it was observed that excitement and
extra broad smiles were seen on the faces of the kids as they started splashing
in the pool. Some were hesitant, but could not control themselves for long as
the water play and balls were so tempting that finally everybody jumped into
the splash pool. The mothers were also delighted and appreciated this welcome
change in the daily routine. They even took some handy tips from swimming coach
for handling their little ones in water comfortably.
International Dance Day
– 29/04/2013 was celebrated as the
International Dance Day in the Pre-primary wing of the school. Kids had come in
colourful Party Dresses and rocked the dance floor to the tunes of their
favourite foot tapping dance numbers. Some of them danced till the end of the
party, while some were tired and moved out.
It was a fun filled day for the Pre-primary Dipsites.
Yellow Day
The youngest of
them all; the Pre -Nursery bees, came dressed up in Yellow attire and brought
along a yellow object of their choice from home as they were to celebrate
Yellow Day on the last day of April 2013. Sponge dabbing in the picture of a
huge sun was enjoyed by the tiny tots. A cutout of a Mango was their special
take-away item for the day.
BEESOME COMPETITION
Hindi Recitation
– The enthusiastic bees of Nursery, LKG
and Prep had taken part in Hindi Recitation on the 26th of April 2013.The
little students had come well prepared and very confidently did recite their
rhymes. The Prep bees were given a theme; ‘Garmi’ where as others had the
liberty of reciting a rhyme on a topic of their choice. Some children had used
props to highlight their rhyme. The rhymes of the Prep bees had description of
accessories, food and clothes used during (‘Garmi’) ‘Summer’ or the weather
conditions we face.

BSTC Exam
BSTC exam was conducted by MLSU, Udaipur this
year on 28th April 2013. Almost 300 candidates appeared for the same
at DPS, Udaipur. Exam was conducted in good spirit with full co-operation from
the management and staff of the DPS, Udaipur.
Early Childhood Education
The certificate course in Early Childhood
Education which is an initiative of the Delhi Public School Society was
organized from 15th April to 27th April, 2013 at HRDC,
Dwarka. In time with the world wide trends & keeping in mind that the early
childhood stage has specific needs, demands and challenges in terms of
development and learning, this course was arranged for the teachers of various
Delhi Public Schools. Ms. Nupur Gour of DPS Udaipur attended the said programme
and was highly benefited in terms of getting aware of the latest and most
needed trend of teaching Pre-Primary children.
Mr. Ashok Chandra, the Chairman of DPS Society,
Prof. B.P. Kandelwal the member of DPS Society and Dr. Neerja Chadha the Prof.
Early Childhood graced the occasion at the topics discussed were development in
the first six years, handling parents, development of Mathematical concepts,
play way method and many more. The participating teachers shared their experiential
learning from the workshop and from visits to DPS East of Kailash and DPS Indirapuram.
The programme ended on a common note that “It is not what is poured into a
student that counts, but what is planted.”
Scholastic Book Club
In collaboration with Scholastic India, and
the efforts of our Librarian the students of classes I to VIII formed
scholastic Book Club to develop their reading skills. A form was filled by them
to get the books suggested by the teachers and those books of their choice have
been received by them in the month of April. We hope this would help in
grooming reading skills of the students.
KVPY Scholar
Chitrang Murdia of class XII has brought
laurels to the school by clearing the second round Kishore Vaigyanik Prothsahan
Yojana (KVPY). The DPS Udaipur family wishes him heartiest congratulations and
all the best for his future endeavours.
World Health Day
To create an awareness among the students
about the World Health Day, A group discussion activity was organized for the
students of class V on 6th April 2013. Many students actively participated
and presented their views on the Topic ‘Balanced Diet’, some highlighted the
important components of Balanced Diet, some of them emphasized on the role of
Balanced Diet in the development and growth of a child and others explained the
drawbacks of taking junk food. The teachers also participated in the
discussions and motivated maximum participation. This day was followed as a
healthy diet day and all the students had brought a healthy tiffin with
nutritious meals.

mind resides in a healthy body” On 6th of April the students of class II and had just settled down with class
room and teachers, when world Health Day was celebrated for which they were
asked to bring healthy lunch box of
their choice.
To our surprise they brought stuffed
paranthas, sprouts and many more healthy items. Also they brought a fruit and
fruit juice, which they later shared it with their friends. Teachers told them
about the advantages of the healthy Eating Habits.
Later they also had an aerobics session where
all the students did few exercises, they were told that every day they must
follow this regine, to stay fit.
Road Safety
During the Road Safety week on 23rd
April 2013, children of class V were made to do a worksheet so as to make them
aware of Road Safety rules.
All the students of class V did the worksheet.
The worksheet carried objective questions based on traffic rules. Puzzle related to young cyclists and
questions based on identification of Traffic signs and symbols. The students
enjoyed doing it and learnt the basic traffic rules symbols and signs through
the worksheet.
On 23rd April. A documentary was
shown to the students where they witnessed the rules that must be followed
while we are on the road.
This show was a good learning experience for
all the students and at the same time it was full of information.
SESSION 2013-2014
Reports (May. 2013)
Swimming Camp.
When
summer is at its peak, the only activity that tempts a child is ducking into
cool waters and be able to swim. DPS always gives opportunity to its children
to learn and enjoy swimming during summer break. The swimming camp is put up
for students and their parents from 13th May to 13th
June. The expert coaches will be conducting these classes in the morning as
well as evening.
Staff Party
A
lively Staff Party was organized on evening of 11th May at Hotel Indra
Prakash, which marked the beginning of the Summer Break for the staff. The new
staff members also joined in to Celebrate the jovial moments with the rest of
the faculty. Birthday wishes were extended to the staff members with their Birthdays
falling in the months December to April. The teachers enjoyed to their fullest.
Mother’s Day
The
second Sunday of May is celebrated as Mother’s Day. At Delhi Public School
Mother’s Day was celebrated in the Pre-Primary section on 10th May
2013.
A
competition was organized for the mothers in which they were allotted a soft
board each to decorate it in their own way. The mothers enthusiastically participated
in the activity and enjoyed it. The mothers were also invited to school with
their bags, bottles and lunch like kids to spend one day at school. This effort
gathered much admiration from all.
The
students of class Nursery were asked to make cards for their mothers and they showed
their creativity in making cards. In addition to this, the tiny tots of Prep were
asked to bring their mother’s photograph and then make a frame for it. The
young dipsites made beautiful photo frames by using different materials.
All
these activities were organized to make them realize the importance of mother
in life.
Inter House English Debate
Inter
house English Debate competition was organized for the students of DPS Udaipur
in three categories: Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior on 4th May 2013.
Different topics were given for all the three categories and students came
forward with strong arguements for and against the topic.
The
topic were:
Sub-Juniors (III - V) - Advertisement
Creates false needs.
Junior (VI - VIII) - To value
Money is a need to inculcate in children now-a-days.
Senior (IX - XII) - “The inclusion of value based
questions in the
curriculum will inculcate
values among young students”
The
best session was the rebuttal round when the interjector asked one question
each to the speaker spontaneously. The open session gave the students and the
teachers a chance to participate in the argumentative session.

Formative Assessment - I
Students
geared up with the syllabus taught, FA-I was conducted in the form of weekly
test for classes II to class XII. Students put forth their zealous efforts in
the test. Their Weekly Test copies are shown to them so that they further work
on the areas which is needed.
Holiday Assignment
Keeping
in the mind that students should not feel bore in the long break, very
interesting and creative Summer Assignment is given by the subject teachers. It
is in the form of Poster Making, Collage Making, Creative Writing, Problem Solving
etc. To develop the reading skilled vocabulary in students long reading books
assignment is given to Middle & Senior section. DPS believes that the
assignment given to the students well certainly help them in shaping their overall
personality.
PTM (11th May 2013)
Before
going for summer break an interacting session was organized for parents and
teachers from classes Pre-Nursery to VIII on 11th May 2013 from 8:30
a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This provided a platform to the parents and teachers to
discuss about the performance of the children and how the break can be utilized
to shape the hidden talents of the children. The parents also enjoyed the Live
Show viz – Ramp Walk, Enacting as a Mother etc.
Innovations Adopted
Delhi
Public School Udaipur always believes in adopting innovations in imparting curricular
and co-curricular exposure to its students. In this session the school has
selected two Language Co-ordinators from each class and gave them badges to
promote English speaking environment.
In
addition to this, detailed observation report has been sent to the parents of
all the new students. The report has been made with great precision by the
class teacher with the help of subject teachers.
To
develop the general aptitude of the students Saturday Assignment in the form of
MCQ worksheet has been started. The students are given this worksheet on every
Saturday which comprises of questions based on General Knowledge, Science,
Mental Ability and English. The students are enjoying this assignment and can
be seen discussing the answers in buses. During PTM, Live Shows were organized
which gathered much praise from the visiting parents. The Singing concert at
the ground floor was highly appreciated. The Ramp Walk was also organized in
which the students decked themselves according to the theme ‘Summer’ and they
enjoyed walking on the Ramp. The young girls dressed themselves as Mothers from
various states and enacted as mothers. They enthusiastically put up kitchen
articles and behaved as real mothers. This concept of Live Shows was highly
admired by the parents.
Inter DPS Hindustani Vocal Music Competition
The
Inter DPS Hindustani Vocal Music Competition was organized by the Delhi Public
School Society at DPS Gandhinagar in the month of May. A total of nine Delhi
Public Schools of the West Zone participated. Our school secured third position
in both Solo & Group Song Category. The participants were awarded the prize
and the individual certificates.
IPCE
DPS,
Udaipur was the centre for IPCE – May, 2013. The examination was conducted very
smoothly & sacredly from 3rd May to 15th May under
the supervision of Department of ICAI. 180 students appeared for the said
examination from DPS, Udaipur centre.
