Special Assembly – Christmas
(Seniors)
– The students of class XA celebrated the joyous occasion of Christmas through
a special assembly conducted by the class on December 20th 2013. The
assembly commenced by asking the God for his ‘showers of blessings’, a thought
was given by Tanisha reminding us of the true spirit of Christmas. Mansi
recited a self versed poem depicting the zeal & enthusiasm of Christmas. A
skit written by Devey Singh of Class X was also presented by the students
showing Santa’s strike & how his Elves helped him to realize the true
spirit of giving & sharing on Christmas. The children were informed about
Christmas & Bible by Yashna & Apeksha. The Assembly ended with a band performance
by the students & Santa also joined in for the fun. On this day, the
Principal, Ms. Neeru Tandon blessed all the students and wished them a Merry
Christmas.
Special Assembly – Christmas
(Juniors)
– Christmas was celebrated by the students of class III C in the form of a special
assembly on 23rd December 2013. Rudraksh Gupta delivered a speech on
the importance of this festival. The special feature of the assembly was
Christmas news which was delivered by Ruchit & Kojagoree. Children sang
Christmas carols melodiously. At the end, Santa came with the gifts &
distributed them among the children. The celebration ended with the speech by
respected Headmistress ma’am in which she appreciated the efforts made by the
students of class III C.
Special Assembly – AIDS – AIDS Day is observed on
December 1 every year. Due to Assembly elections, a special assembly was
conducted on 06th December 2013 to mark this day by the students of
class VI D. The assembly started with a prayer to get the blessings of the Almighty.
After the thought and news reading, the major attraction was a ‘Nukkad Natak’
which highlighted various issues and misconceptions related to AIDS. The students
brought out the social stigmas and unwanted fears about AIDS that result in the
alienation of the patient making his/her life more miserable. They beautifully
portrayed that a person suffering from AIDS can survive happily if he gets
emotional and social support. They also suggested preventive measures against
this disease. The assembly ended by a word of appraisal from the Principal, Ms.
Neeru Tandon.
Nirbhaya Day - A tragedy that
took place in the national capital, Delhi on 16 December 2012 stirred the
entire human race. In India, women are worshipped but what happened with Damini
was heinous. She could not survive the tragedy but her strength to fight has
spread a wave of awareness amongst all.
To
mark this day, a special assembly was organized at Delhi Public School Udaipur
to pay tribute to Damini. The assembly was conducted by the teachers in which
they presented a thought, speech and a poem highlighting the importance of
women in the society and the need to respect them. The poem recited by Hindi
teacher was appreciated and applauded by all.
On
this day all the Dipsites took a pledge to help, support and respect women. The
emphasis was to make the students aware that government steps are not enough in
protecting women, the society and every individual must come up and spread this
message to respect women to prevent such heinous acts.
In
the end, the Principal, Ms. Neeru Tandon said, “It is really very sad that in
country like India where woman is worshipped in all the roles on one hand while
on the other hand she is humiliated in this form. It’s time now to get awakened
to fight such cancerous growth in our society.” The assembly ended with the
National Anthem.
Colourful Christmas Carnival
at DPS Udaipur – Christmas, the birthday of Jesus Christ was celebrated enthusiastically
at DPS Udaipur by organizing a carnival on 25th December 2013 from
9:00 a.m. in the morning to 4:00 p.m. The carnival was inaugurated by the Pro-Vice
Chairman, Sh. Govind Agrawal in the presence of the Principal and other
dignitaries.
A Christmas rally was organized from the school’s main gate to the
carnival area in the playground. In the ground, a huge stage was erected for cultural
programmes in the centre while one side was occupied with the game stalls the
other side attracted the visitors with mouth watering delicacies.
At the back, the area was occupied for horse riding and flying fox. The
students, parents and visitors enjoyed various games and dishes put up in the
carnival. Song on demand, Cold Drinks & Ice-Cream, South Indian Corner,
Chinese Corner, Italian Corner were major attractions. Bizzle game, Tic-tac-toe,
etc. attracted the kids. In the evening, the fair ended at around 4:00 p.m. and
all dispersed wishing each other Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
Assessment of Evidences – Delhi Public School,
Udaipur felt honoured to be chosen as one of the nodal centres by the CBSE for
the Assessment of Evidences of various subjects of classes IX & X. The
Principal, Ms. Neeru Tandon was nominated as the ‘City-Coordinator’ and under
her expert guidance the assessment of Evidences (subjects – Social Science,
Maths, Hindi & English) of 14 schools was conducted. Eight teachers from
Delhi Public School and other schools of the city were appointed to attend the
Orientation Programme on 07th December and process the assessment
work on 9th December 2013.
KVPY – Four students of Delhi
Public School, Udaipur made the school proud by getting selected at the
National Level by KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahana Yojana) run by the Govt.
of India. The students chosen for the scholarship under this project are Pallav
Jain (Class XII), Ashish Nasa (Class XII), Kshitiz Mundra (Class XII) &
Diggaj Bhandari (Class XI).
The Principal congratulated them whole heartedly and extended best
wishes for their bright future.
Inter House Cricket
Tournament
– The Inter House Cricket Tournament was organized for the students of classes
VI to XI from 23rd to 26th November 2013 in order to
inculcate sportsman spirit in the students. A team of 16 from all the four
houses participated in the tournament. Two semi finals were played in which
Chenab and Satluj emerged victorious respectively. The final match was played
on 26th November 2013 between the teams of Chenab and Satluj house
in which Chenab House won the match.
Inter House Solo & Group
Dance Competition – The Inter House Solo & Group Dance Competition was conducted for
the Junior Group on 23rd December 2013. Theme for solo dance competition
was semi classical dance based on non-filmy songs & the time given was four
minutes. Theme for group dance competition was ‘the dance depicting any
festival’ based on non filmy songs & the time given was six minutes. The
judges for the competition were Mr. Bharat Verma and Ms. Renu Verma. Their judgement
was based on synchronization, costume & props, sense of rhythm, creativity
& overall presentation. The dancers of all four houses participated in the
competition with great zeal. Results of the competition were as follows:

IMO – To make
the students realize their potential and take a stride towards achieving their dream,
International Maths Olympiad was conducted. 329 students from classes IV to X
had participated in the examination. It’s a platform to develop critical thinking
and to inculcate a sense of competition among students.
Visit to Lake City Mall – In order
to divert/ provide relief to the students from same monotonous routine and to
add to the festivities of the season a visit to the Lake City Mall was
organized for the day boarders of DPS, Udaipur. The students enjoyed the games
and various snacks served to them. It also provided a nice opportunity for the day
boarders of different classes to mingle with each other.
IIHM Teachers’ Chef Competition - The second round of ‘The Teachers Chef Competition’ was organized by the Indian
Institute of Hotel Management in Jaipur on 23rd December 2013 in
which more than 40 teachers participated.
Three teachers
from DPS Udaipur took part in the event and Ms. Payal Pahuja got the second
position while Ms. Sanjeevani Singh got the consolation prize. The Principal, Ms.
Neeru Tandon congratulated both the teachers for their achievement.
Santa’s Workshop at DPS – The Santa’s
Workshop was inaugurated at Delhi Public School, Udaipur on 20th December
2013 in which a number of Inter School activities were organized for Pre-Primary children. On the first day of the
workshop ‘Fancy Dress Competition’ was organized for the tiny tots of Nursery
and the theme was ‘Christmas’. In this event, Central Academy Sector-3 stood I
followed by DPS Udaipur on the second position. In this series, Dance
Competition was organized for the students of L.K.G. and Prep on the theme ‘Christmas’
St Anthony School bagged the first prize in this category while Central Academy, Sardarpura bagged at
the runner up position.
On the second day of the workshop Inter School ‘Show and Tell’ and ‘Carol
Singing’ Competitions were organized. Maharana Mewar Vidhya Mandir bagged the
first prize in ‘Show and Tell Competition’ leaving behind 11 participant
schools while DPS and Ryan International remained the Runners-up. In ‘Carol
Singing’, DPS stood first followed by Rockwoods High School.
At the end, the overall championship was awarded on the
basis of the points scored in all the activities. DPS Udaipur scored the
highest but being host St Anthony’s school got the championship followed by
Central Academy, Sardarpura bagged overall second position while Central
Academy, Sec-3 stood third.
The Principal Ms. Neeru Tandon thanked all the participant schools
for their support and cooperation.
Book Fair at DPS - A four days
Book Fair was organized at Delhi Public School Udaipur from 12th Dec to 15th Dec
2013 in association with Scholastic India, Gurgoan. The theme of the fair was
‘Story Laboratory: Reading Books Give Great Powers’.
The fair was inaugurated by the Principal of the school, Ms.
Neeru Tandon. The books of national and international level useful for the
students of all the classes from primary to senior secondary were displayed.
The students and the parents visited the fair
enthusiastically and also purchased a number of books. They showed keen
interest in the story books.
On this occasion a lucky draw was also announced in which
Abhay Bhardwaj of class II and Arnav Agrawal of class IV stood winners and they
will be given books by Scholastic India as prize. The Library Incharge of the
school, Mr. Abhishek Rana thanked the ‘Scholastic India’, for their
cooperation.
Friendly Cricket Match between
Helpmaker’s, South Africa and DPS, Udaipur - To promote friendly relations
through cricket between India & South Africa, a team of 29 players with 5
coaches played a friendly match that was between Helpmaker, South Africa and
DPS Udaipur team on 07th December
2013.
Two matches of 20 overs were played in
the category Under 17 and Under 15 in the morning and the afternoon
respectively. In the first match, Under 17 DPS Udaipur won the toss and decided
to field and got 3 quick wickets in the first 4 overs. Helpmaaker team gave a
target of 113 runs.
In the second half, DPS Udaipur made 107 runs and
Helpmaaker team won the match by 5 runs, Neil Kruger was declared ‘Man of
the Match’.
Parents were also invited to witness the
match in the afternoon. The Principal, Ms. Neeru Tandon welcomed the team
members and the coaches. She further said that such events would go a long way
to fostering peace and brotherhood at the international level.
Before the match, one minute silence observed
to pay tribute to the great leader Nelson Mandela who passed away after long
illness.
CPT Exam - DPS Udaipur smoothly conducted CPT Exam. on 15th December
2013 in which 310 candidates appeared. The exam was in two shifts. The
candidates were very much satisfied with the arrangements made for them by the
school.
Inter House Football Tournament - DPS Udaipur believes that sports and academics play
an important role in building up a student’s character so for that regular
sports activities are conducted. To develop the sportsman spirit, an Inter
House Football Tournament was hosted. Football fans enjoyed each and every
round of match. The final match was played on 9th December 2013
between Satluj House and Chenab House. Players of both the teams played very
well. The match was neck to neck but the players of Satluj House took the match
in their pocket by the score 4-3. The students and the teachers of Satluj House
celebrated their victory.
Secure Meters Workshop – A workshop on ‘Engaging Teaching Fraternity for
Building superior Learning Environment’ was organized by Secure Meters, Udaipur
in two batches on 2nd & 4th December 2013. Dr. Ashok
Chakranarayan from Pune conducted the workshop which helped to strengthen the
ties between the teachers and the students. The workshop proved to be really
fruitful for the teachers as it emphasized on developing skills on handling children
with challenging behaviour and to unwind
the hidden potentials from within them. It focused on developing the self
esteem of the teachers, improving teacher-taught relationship, increasing
motivation and positive thinking among the students. It helped the teachers to
inculcate the moral values among the students. Following teachers attended the
workshop.

Pre-Board I Exam – In order to prepare the students of class XII for the Board
Examination, 2014. Pre-board I exams were conducted for the both Science &
Commerce stream. The exams commenced from December 13th 2013 and
ended on December 28th, 2013. The questions papers of the Pre-Board
exams were designed following the weightage as given by CBSE so as to give a
better insight to the students. After assessment of the answer sheets, the
marking scheme was discussed with the students so that they were aware of their
mistakes and shortcomings. This helped the students to analyse their
performance and work upon their weak areas. The performance of the students
& the result of Pre Board I exams was intimated to the parents through PTM
which was conducted on January 7th 2013.
Workshop for Teachers – A three days workshop on ‘Stress Management’ was
organized for the teaching fraternity of classes VI to X from 26 to 28 December
2013 in which the key speaker Ms. Archana Shaktawat highlighted on various
issues that result in depression. Various activities were conducted like Problem
Solving, Group Discussion etc. All the sessions were very interactive and
helped in understanding one’s own self. In the afternoon, personal interaction
with each of the faculty members was held to probe into the problems and
suggesting ways to come out of it.
