Devansh Got International Rank 1
in NCO - National Cyber Olympiad was organized by Science Olympiad
Foundation (SOF) on 19th August 2013 and the result of the first
level exam was declared on 9th Nov. 2013. Nine students from DPS
Udaipur have been selected for the second level of the exam.
Devansh Modi of class XII brought laurels to the school and family by
securing first rank at the International Level. His selection is a reflection
of his excellent scholastic talent. On this occasion the Principal, Ms. Neeru
Tandon congratulated Devansh for his extraordinary achievement and wished for
his bright future.
The following students have been selected for the II Level: Praniti
Fulmare, Aryan Maheshwari, Dhanvin Jain, Siddharth Mathur, Akshat Mantri,
Shruti Sahu, Ishan Kavadia, Deepanshu Sharma and Devansh Modi.
National Science Olympiad –
National Science Olympiad was organized on 16th November 2013 by
Science Olympiad Foundation to evaluate students’ calibre in scientific
aptitude and skills. 315 students from classes III to XII participated in this
exam from Delhi Public School, Udaipur. The exam was smoothly conducted in 12
rooms from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. with two invigilators in each room.
Inter DPS Athletics – The National
Level Inter DPS Athletic Meet was organized at DPS Allahabad from 10th
November to 12th November 2013 in which 43 teams from Delhi Public
Schools in India and abroad participated. A team of 12 athletes from DPS
Udaipur participated in various events like 100 mts. & 400 mts. race, relay
race, shot put, discus throw, etc. in all the categories i.e. Under 14, Under
16 and Senior level. Pinaki Agrawal of DPS Udaipur bagged two gold medals in
100 and 400 mts. race at the National Level. The Principal, Ms. Neeru Tandon
felicitated Pinaki for her outstanding performance and congratulated the entire
team for their endeavours.
Adventure Camp – Delhi
Public School, Udaipur organized an overnight ‘Adventure Camp’ from 15th
to 16th November 2013 for the students of classes II & III and
from 16th to 17th November 2013 for the students of
classes IV & V so as to give them an enriching exposure towards an
altogether different world of fun filled activities. The students were
accompanied by the school teachers and a team of qualified and trained
instructors.
The Adventure Camping Programme was exclusively designed for the
students to make them more competitive, to sharpen their minds and to make them
learn while having fun as this is the appropriate age to give the students an adventure
experience. Hygienic food and safe drinking water was served during the camp.
Facilities for the basic medical aid was available at the campsite. Safe adventure
equipments and trained instructors ensured safety of the students.
The activities featured in the camp were:

Introduction of adventure equipment required for
mountaineering purpose and methods of using them.
·
Descending from any height and crossing a certain
height with the help of technical equipments and ropes.
·
Knot tying exercises to know how different knots
of ropes are used in mountaineering.
·
Different group games, i.e. Ball and Water
Collection, Tug of War, Australian Trolley etc.
·
Obstacles and rope courses for confidence building
i.e. Burma, Double Trouble, Rope Climbing, Balance Walk, Spider Web, Wriggling,
Net Climbing, tyre Crossing etc.
·
Search for a specific target with the help of
different clues.
·
Morning Yoga and Exercises for a healthy life.
Children participated in the camp with full enthusiasm and zeal. They
were given certificates of their participation at the end of the camp.
IPCE Exam – Delhi
Public School, Udaipur was also one of the centres for IPCE November 2013 which
is conducted by Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. It was the centre
for 300 students and fifteen classrooms were utilized for the exam. The exam
was from 6th November to 20th November from 2:00 p.m. to
5:00 p.m.
ECE Workshop – The
first phase of workshop on Early Childhood care was commenced at the HRD
Centre, DPS Noida in the month of April and it concluded with its II Phase in
the month of November Ms. Nupur Gour, a Pre-Primary teacher from DPS, Udaipur
participated in it and received appreciation certificate from Prof. Khandelwal.
The second phase of the workshop lasted from 13th November to 15th
November, 2013 in which viva voice and written examination of 2 hours were
conducted for the participants. A demo was also given to the participants on
Early childhood care at an Anganwadi in Gurgaon. The appreciation letter sent
by the Principal of DPS Udaipur commending the efforts of the teacher was also
read out during the valedictory function.
Inter House Cricket Tournament – In
order to inculcate sportsmanship and team spirit in the students an Inter House
Cricket Tournament was organized from 23rd November to 26th
November 2013 after the school hours. The house team comprised of 15 students
from classes VI to XI with two students from each class. Semi finals were
played on 23rd November 2013 between Ravi and Satluj, Ganga and
Chenab on 25th November 2013. Satluj House and Chenab House qualified
for the final which was played on 6th November 2013. Chenab came out
victorious by defeating Satluj in super over as the match was a tie. Yogendra
Singh Sisodia of class VIII was awarded ‘the Man of the Match’.
DPS Students Visited NASA - 16
students of DPS Udaipur returned to Udaipur after completing their 12 days
educational tour from 28th October to 8th November to
NASA, New York, Orlando, Washington D.C. with the Principal, Ms. Neeru Tandon.
The tour started from Washington where they visited historical buildings. The
next day they reached Orlando and visited the White House, Lincoln Memorial,
Supreme Court, Air and Space Museum, World War II Memorial etc. Then the group
moved to Kennedy Space Centre (NASA Camp) where they stayed for four days and
participated in various activities. Jayvrath Champawat stood first in designing
and launching of Rocket while Vagrath Bhatt, Rudraksh Jain, Rudraksh Mehta and
Narayan Kabra stood first in Parachute Designing and Aman Veer Ahuja, Rachit
Doshi and Danish Arora stood second in Bridge Making. These students were
felicitated by the NASA Officials and they received certificate and memento
from them. The students also met an astronaut John Mac Bright. After that they
reached Epcot Centre and saw technical programmes of future. On the next day
they enjoyed Boat Ride at Niagara Falls and then went for sightseeing in New
York. They went to 86th storey of the Empire Building and also
visited Times Square, Rock Feller Centre, St. Pedrix Cathederal, Alice Island,
Little Italy and China Town. Hershey’s Chocolate Factory attracted the major
attention and the students bought many chocolates. They enjoyed the crackers show
in Orlando on the occasion of Diwali.
Inter House Dance Competition - “Great dancers are not
great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion”.
To promote
excellence in all the facts of life various activities are organized at Delhi
Public School Udaipur and in this series, Inter House Dance Competition was
organized on 23rd November 2013. The competition was held in two
categories – Group and Solo. The theme for the Group Dance Competition was
International Dance form in which all the four houses participated
enthusiastically and presented Contemporary, Arabian, Hip Hop & Salsa on
the stage. The theme for Solo Dance Competition was classical/Semi Classical
Dance form. The judges were faculty from Dance Department.
Ganga an
Ravi Houses bagged I position in Group Dance followed by Satluj and Chenab as I
and II runner up. In Solo Dance Ravi House stood I while Satluj got II and
Ganga House got III position. The Principal, Ms. Neeru Tandon appreciated the
efforts of all the participants and the House Incharges.
Inter DPS Dance Festival
(National) – The National Inter DPS Dance Festival was held on 15th
November, 2013 at DPS, Noida. Being the second position holder at the Zonal
Level, DPS Udaipur too participated alongwith the 16 teams from various Delhi
Public Schools.
The theme for the performances was ‘Growth’ (Child or nature). A team
of 10 students from the school presented a beautiful dance showing the growth
of Nature.
Class – XII PTM – Examinations are an
integral part of the academics. The assessment usually helps one to work hard
persistently and whole heartedly in order to improve his scores. In order to
make the parents too aware of their ward’s performance and efforts required a
PTM for parents of Class XII students was organized on 14th
November, 2013 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. where the answer books of their
wards were shown to them. The teachers guided the students regarding the areas
that needed special attention & efforts.
Guru Nanak
Jayanti- Special Assembly - Delhi Public
School, Udaipur celebrated the most sacred festival of Sikhs ‘Gurpurab’ of
Sikhs in the form of a Special Assembly which was presented by Class VIII D. The whole atmosphere was filled with the serenity
when assembly commenced with Shabad and hymns.
The programme geared up with procession with ‘Panj Pyaras’. The students came to
know about Rehras, Nagar Kirthan and langar by the enactment. Master
Ahwar Sultan gave the significance of the
day and the virtuous deeds of Guru Nanak devji
through a speech. The assembly wound with a spectacular ‘Bhangra’ presented by
the girls.
Skating Camp – Delhi Public School,
Udaipur has organized ‘Skating Camp’ for the students of classes I to IV. The
Skating Camp starts after school hours from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the
school campus.
Children are taught different techniques of skating by a trained
coach. Children are actively participating in the camp and enhancing their
skating skills.
IMO Classes – In order to groom the
mathematical and problem solving skills of the students and prepare them for
International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO), extra classes were conducted from
Nov.21st 2013 to Dec. 4th 2013 for classes III – XII. The
Maths teachers of DPS left no stone unturned in giving a better insight in
solving problems using mathematical tricks, techniques and short cuts to
students. Practice worksheets were given to the students and previous years
question papers were discussed. IMO will be conducted on December 5th
2013 in which 343 students from classes III to XII shall participate.
Bal Ganesha – The DPS premises got a
heavenly touch on the evening of 27th November, 2013. The sequel of
Bal Ramayana & Bal Krishna Leela, “Bal Ganesha” was the grand show which
saw the mass participation of the Pre-Primary students. The programme began
with the lighting of the auspicious lamp by the Chief Guest, Ms. Rolee Agrawal,
The Commissioner of Income Tax, Ahmedabad and the Pro Vice Chairman of DPS
Udaipur, Mr. Govind Agrawal.
A welcome speech was extended by Mr. Deepak Agrawal, a member
management. The programme was a beautiful depiction of glimpses life of Bal
Ganesha. The enactments by little children personifying Gods & Goddesses
were inspiring. The dances and the dialogues received equivocal praise. The chief
guest delivered a highly inspiring speech and applauded the efforts of the
school in giving excellent opportunities to students. A vote of thanks was
extended by the Principal Ms. Neeru Tandon with a commitment to give even
better opportunities to young talents.
Dance – an ‘Art’, a
‘Hobby’ or a way of ‘expression’ - Dance is life for some like Shloka Agarwal of
DPS Udaipur. Shloka brought laurels to her school and her Dance Academy by
winning a special award at the National Dance Festival – 2013 held in New
Delhi. Out of the 22 states that participated in this event, Shloka Agarwal
bagged a Special Award for Kathak Dance Competition in Junior category and she
has been selected to present her show on the International platform.
She will showcase her performance in Dubai.
Children’s Day 2013 -
Children’s Day, the birth
anniversary of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru was celebrated with great pomp and joy at
Delhi Public School Udaipur. Keeping in mind the likes of the students, the
teachers showcased a cultural bonanza comprising of Goan Dance, Punjabi Gidda,
Gujarati Garba and melodious numbers from various languages of the country. The
entire programme was based on the theme ‘Unity in Diversity’. A hilarious act
was also presented by the teachers which gathered much applause from the
students.
The
Student Council members expressed their gratitude towards the teachers for
making their day a memorable one. The Junior Head Girl and the Senior Head Girl
thanked the teaching fraternity on behalf of all the students for putting up
such a wonderful show.
Horse Riding Camp- For the parents of the Pre-Primary kids, a
free Horse Riding Camp was organized in September. This three month camp got
good response and was appreciated by the parents. The last Sunday of November
saw the end to this activity of fun.
DPS Family Get Together - DPS Family always believes in strengthening the
family bonding and for that family get together was organised on 29th
November 2013 at Ashoka Palace. Staff and their family members had a wonderful
evening in which they got opportunity to interact with each other. On this
special eve, teachers were highly elated for the felicitation for their
birthdays.
Some of the staff
members received the appreciation prizes for their excellence work on the
occasion of Christmas Carnival celebrated last year. The dance by the children
and the staff added fun to the Party. The invitees enjoyed and wished to have
such parties frequently.
DPS Science and Maths Talent Examination - It has always been an effort of the DPS society to
develop competitive skills among its students and accord a fruitful direction
to their talent. In the global competitive scenario Maths and Science play significant
role. In collaboration with the SOF, this exam is conducted in all Delhi Public
schools in India and abroad for students of class IX.
Level I exam of the
same was conducted in the school premises on October 23, 2013 during school
hours between 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Himanshi Mehta brought laurels to the
school by securing 4th position and Sambhav Solanki was able to
secure 294th position in the Level I (SMTE) DPS Science & Maths
Talent Examination. Level 2 exam will be conducted on December 8, 2013.
The students were
given coaching in the school and all the students participated
enthusiastically.
